You may have noticed that G Suite is now known as Google Workspace. If you’ve been working with Google for as long as we have, you are probably used to major rebrandings like this. Google is an innovator, it always wants to do things better, and evolution is at the heart of everything it does.
But what does this mean for the average consumer?
Here’s what you need to know.
What’s the Difference Between G Suite and Google Workspace?
There’s really not a lot of difference. Google says that “G Suite just got better” and Workspace is “Everything you need to get anything done, now in one place.”
In other words, Workspace offers the same features as G Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Meet etc), but with better integration, so you don’t have to jump between the different apps. If you are familiar with G Suite, Workspace won’t produce any major surprises.
Is Google Workspace Free?
All the Workspace apps have free versions available, and although there are some limitations, they won’t bother most consumers. Businesses will need to upgrade to the paid version. At the time of writing, Google Workspace plans start at $8.40 AUD per user per month and include a custom business email address (yourname@yourbusiness.com), video meetings, 30 GB cloud storage, security controls and support. There are plans to suit different sized businesses, as well as an ‘Enterprise’ plan which is fully customizable.
All Workspace plans include:
- Gmail,
- Chat
- Drive
- Calendar
- Meet
- Docs
- Sheets
- Slides
- Forms
- Sites
If you like working collaboratively in a single browser tab, you will be a fan of the changes Google has made. And if you don’t like the look of the new icons? You’re not alone!
